Solan, November 27

Deputy Commissioner KC Chaman today directed the representatives of the transport unions of the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) area to strictly follow the HP High Court directions and permit vehicles hired from other states to transport goods.

Chaman convened a meeting of all stakeholders, including the representatives of the BBNIA and the transport unions, here. Baddi SP Rohit Malpani also attended the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner explained the High Court directions to the participants of the meeting and told them to strictly follow these. He also directed the transport unions to educate all their members about the court orders. He said that the police would treat even an isolated case of violation seriously.

Around 10,000-odd members strong transport unions had been preventing the industrialists from hiring vehicles from other states to transport goods and raw materials and charging high freights. The industry association had sought the court’s intervention to resolve the issue as successive state governments did not address it despite making tall promises.
