A section of students and people at the programme, who were waiting for lunch after the event, raised the slogan “Sukhu ne bulaya hai bhuke he tarphaya hai”. A video of residents and students raising slogans has gone viral on social media.
Solan SP Gaurav Singh said that an FIR had been registered as women ABVP functionaries from Government Degree College, Darlaghat, created a ruckus at the venue of the Chief Minister’s function. He added that these students were neither invited to the programme nor were participants but had come there to create a ruckus as part of a preconceived conspiracy.
The SP claimed that the police managed to avert any such misadventure, as they had inputs about the possibility of some mischief being created during the programme. “Five girl students of Government Degree College, Darlaghat, were identified for raising unsavoury slogans. They revealed during questioning that the BJP had hatched a conspiracy to disrupt the programme and further action against the perpetrators would be taken soon.”
Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi was not available for his comments despite repeated calls to his mobile phone number.
The college authorities, however, claimed that four students from the Scouts and Guides had gone to welcome the Chief Minister on an invitation from the Animal Husbandry Department.
According to the FIR accessed by The Tribune, Darlaghat resident Basant Lal lodged a complaint with the police that when he went to take lunch at the Chief Minister’s function around 2 pm on October 2, some girls were raising slogans against the Chief Minister, promoting regional hatred and enmity amongst people. Since it was a deliberate act, he demanded appropriate legal action against the girls and their associates, whose names he claimed were not immediately known but would be provided soon.
The SP said that an FIR was registered under Sections 353(2) and 3(5) of the BNS at Darlaghat police station on October 4 for making or circulating statements, false information or rumours with an intent to create or promote feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will between different groups based on religion, community or any other ground and common intention. A probe into the matter was underway, he added.
BJP’s Solan city president Shailendra Gupta condemned the registration of FIR against the girl students, which he said was undemocratic and condemnable. He demanded the cancellation of the FIR.
