Two persons each from Una and Mandi and one from Kullu district have tested positive for the omicron variant of coronavirus, as per the genome sequencing reports received from Delhi. All five persons had returned to India from foreign countries.

According to Una Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Raman Kumar Sharma, the two persons from Una district had come from France and Dubai on January 6. One of them had a contact history of 16 persons and the other had come in contact with one person after landing in India. However, all 17 persons having contact history with these patients have tested negative.

The CMO said that the samples of two Una persons were sent for genome sequencing to a testing facility in New Delhi and the reports were received late Monday evening. He added that the patients were healthy and had not infected any other person in India.
