Five held with heroin

The police registered three cases under the NDPS Act against them.
In the first case, the Damtal police raided a home at Chhanni and recovered 11.22 grams of heroin and Rs 22,000 drug money from the possession of Mohinder Pal, alias Kalu. He was arrested and a case under Sections 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered against him. The police had an input that Mohinder Pal was involved in drug peddling in the inter-state border area.
In the second incident, the Nurpur police nabbed two local youths, identified as Karam Chand of Ward number 2 and Harsh Kumar of Ward number 2, from the Nurpur Fort premises last evening and recovered 6.56 grams of heroin from their possession. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against the duo suspected to be drug addicts.
In the third case, a Nurpur police team stopped a motorcycle (PB35A-3114) and recovered 1.5 grams of heroin from the possession of the rider identified as Vishal Chouhan of Baral village. The accused, suspected to be a drug addict, was arrested and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against him.
SP Kulbhushan Verma said that all five accused were today produced in court, which remanded them in police custody. He asserted that the district police would intensify their anti-drug campaign.
