Senior BJP leader and former minister Kishan Kapoor breathed his last at the PGI, Chandigarh, today morning at the age of 73 years. His remains were brought to Dharamsala in the evening. He would be cremated here tomorrow.

A prominent Gaddi tribal leader Kishan Kapoor won Assembly elections five times from Dharamsala. He became a member of Jan Sangh and Janta Party in 1970. In 1978 as a student, he became the state secretary of Yuva Morcha, a youth wing of Jan Sangh.

Hailing from Khaniara village, now part of Dharamsala municipal corporation, Kishan Kapoor was known for his simplicity and easy approachability to people and his supporters. Kapoor is survived by his wife and two children who live with him in the newly constructed palatial house on Dharamsala-Khaniara road.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have expressed grief over the demise of Kishan Kapoor. National president of BJP and Union Health Minister J P Nadda said that Kishan Kapoor was a sweet spoken, sociable and a visionary leader.
