A flashflood triggered by a cloudburst late last night caused widespread destruction in Marutan, Hidib, Shajwad and Ghiyagi villages in the Jibhi region of Kullu district, damaging both public and private property.

According to initial reports, the house of a local resident, Hari Ram, was completely destroyed. A fish farm, a shop and two other houses also sustained partial damage. The deluge further impacted two temples and their adjoining grounds, six traditional water mills (gharats), a Forest Department culvert, four cowsheds and a car.

Banjar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pankaj Sharma said a disaster response team was dispatched immediately after the cloudburst.
