The birth anniversary of Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar, the founding father of Himachal Pradesh, was commemorated with great reverence at the Mall Road here. Rajeev Bindal, state president of the BJP, along with party members, paid floral tributes at Dr Parmar’s statue. “Had it not been for Parmar, there would have been no hill state of Himachal,” he said. He added that the entire state fondly remembers its first Chief Ministerfor his unparalleled contribution.— OC

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now
in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is
