Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri by the district administration and leaders of the Congress at Gandhi Chowk here today.

A prayer meet was organised on the occasion that was attended by Additional District Magistrate Rahul Chauhan, SDM Sanjit Thakur, Executive Officer of Municipal Committee Ajmer Singh, along with Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania, District Congress Committee president Suman Bharti and MC Councillors.

Kuldeep Pathania said Mahatma Gandhi was a great thinker and social reformer. He said Gandhi’s teachings powered the freedom struggle and were acknowledged by leaders of many countries.

He said Gandhi’s principles helped in establishing peace and harmony across the globe. Gandhi was a guiding light for leaders like Nelson Mandela.
