The radio station, Dhatwal ki Awaaz, would be available on 88.4 megahertz on FM within a 10-km radius, while it can also be listened to across the globe on a mobile phone application available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia, retired principal director general, Press Information Bureau to Central Government, said that he conceived the idea to start the radio station here to provide global exposure to local talent. He added that the station would help in making people aware of the latest developments in various fields, especially in agriculture, horticulture and provide information to cottage industry as well. He said that this was one of the six operational community radio stations in the state and about one of 550 in the country.
Chief guest Mahant Rajinder Gir said that the information broadcast from the station would help local farmers in the diversification of crops and in meeting the local requirements of fruit and vegetables. He also inaugurated a fuel station at Maharal.
