The Chairman of the State Food Commission, Dr SP Katyal, inspected the Old Age Home at Basantpur in Shimla district and directed its staff to ensure proper care of elderly residents and efficiently utilise food supplies on time.

Katyal also examined the stock and storage of ration and foodgrains. He emphasised the proper management of food items in the institution must be ensured and instructed the staff to pay special attention to the availability and quality of drinking water.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
