Speaking on the occasion, Kanwar said Dobad had recently been notified as a separate panchayat, adding that during the upcoming panchayat elections, the residents of Dobad will elect their own representatives to the Panchayati Raj Institutions.

The minister informed that 404 new panchayats had been notified by the state government to facilitate speedy development, which was hampered in panchayats having difficult terrain and elaborate geographical areas. He said a new panchayat bhawan in Dobad will be constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.

Kanwar said a detailed project report estimated at Rs 90 crores for upgrading Lathiani to Shahtalai, Bangana to Dhaneta, Thanakalan to Bhakra and Bangana to Kamlu via Tutudu roads has been prepared and sent to the Union government for funding. Besides, he said a sum of Rs 26 crores from NABARD funds was being spent in Kutlehar segment for repair and maintenance of roads. — OC
