The Panchrukhi police today booked four persons in connection with an assault on an employee of the HP State Electricity Board, who had gone to disconnect the power supply of a shopkeeper at Patti village, near here.

Panchrukhi SHO Subhash Shastri said Kulwant Singh had lodged a complaint in the police station that he was deputed by officials of the HPSEB to disconnect power supply of a shopkeeper in Patti village. While he was performing his official duty, the owner of the shop thrashed him, broke his machines and pushed him out of the shop. He received a number of injuries in the process, he stated.

The SHO said after recording the statement of the victim, the police booked four persons, including the owner of the shop, under Sections 342, 353, 332, 427 and 34 of the IPC.

Palampur DSP Gurbachan Singh said it was a serious matter and no accused would be spared.

He added a police team had been deputed to arrest the accused.
