Four police personnel and an Excise Inspector were injured in a fire that broke out in the Panchrukhi police station this evening.

According to information, the police personnel, in presence of the Excise Inspector, were destroying the spirit and liquor seized in different raids over the past few years.

Palampur DSP Lokinder Negi said the police team deputed for the job had already destroyed three big containers as per the guidelines of Excise Department. However, while destroying the fourth container, it caught fire, leaving four personnel, ASI Yash Pal, Constables Shakti Chand, Manoj Kumar and Bhubnesh and an Excise Inspector injured, he said. A big tragedy was averted, he added.

Out of the five injured, three had been shifted to Tanda medical college after being given the first aid at Palampur Civil Hospital. Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri called the injured police personnel and assured them the best medical aid.
