The Confederation of Apiculture Industry (CAI) recently held a seminar at the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The event focused on the current state and future prospects of the apiculture sector in India.

The event brought together key stakeholders, experts and industry leaders from various states, aiming to address industry challenges, explore growth opportunities and promote sustainable beekeeping practices. Over 100 participants attended the seminar, including representatives of government agencies, research institutions and apiculture businesses.

The Director (Research), Dr SK Chauhan, highlighted the importance of promoting apiculture to enhance livelihoods and agricultural productivity.

Dr Harish Kumar Sharma, an apiculture expert, stressed the need for improved infrastructure, operational support and government backing to advance the apiculture sector.

CAI president Devvrat Sharma discussed the organisation’s goals and operations.

Sharma promised marketing assistance to local beekeepers for the high-quality honey produced in the state, and advocated for geo-tagging honey produced in the state to enhance its value and increase beekeeping incomes. — TNS
