Girl dies by suicide in Solan

Solan: A 17-year-old girl died by suicide in the Kather area of Solan on Friday evening. Solan SP Gaurav Singh said the police received a phone call that a girl had hung herself to death at Kather. A police team reached the spot and found the girl hanging from the ceiling fan with a ‘dupatta’. The deceased was identified as Ritika (17), daughter of Krishna Chand who worked in a local industrial unit. Injury marks were found only around the neck and no suicide note was found, the SP said. The body was sent to the Regional Hospital, Solan, for post-mortem. The police have started an inquest under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. TNS

Shepherd’s body found

Nurpur: The body of a shepherd, who was trapped in Dehar rivulet in Jawali Assembly constituency on Friday, was recovered on Saturday. Narinder Kumar (44), a resident of Khabal, was returning home with his herd of goats when he was trapped in the rivulet as it water level rose suddenly. Locals spotted his body near the rivulet.
