Girl falls from school’s fourth floor in Mandi

A Class XII girl student allegedly fell from the fourth floor of Anglo School in Mandi district and was seriously injured today. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred during a heated argument between students just before the school declared a holiday.

Earlier in the day, the school authorities summoned the parents of some students involved in a dispute that was resolved by counselling. The school authorities were busy organising transport for students to go home when the incident occurred. Preliminary reports suggest that the student allegedly fell from the fourth floor of the school building. The police have begun an investigation and have taken possession of CCTV camera footage from the school.

The injured student was immediately taken to the Zonal Hospital, Mandi, where the doctors referred her to Medical College, Nerchowk. She was then shifted to the PGI, Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the student’s father in a statement to the police did not suspect the involvement of anyone in the incident.

IPS Probationary Officer Abhinandan, who is the SHO (Sadar), and local councillor Rajender Mohan visited the school.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma said that the police were conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
