Trekkers were sent back from the Hampta pass today as a girl was washed away in the Hamta nullah near Manali during trekking yesterday.

Kullu SP Gurdev Sharma said Astha Katoch (23) of Nither village of Anni had gone along with six others for trekking to the Jaloura waterfall near the Hamta dam site. Astha fell into the nullah and was washed away.

According to information, Astha lost balance while returning and fell into the gushing waters.

The body was retrieved today by a team of the Adventure Tour Operators Association, Manali. The SP said the body would be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem examination. — OC
