On the occasion of the International Day for Senior Citizens, a district-level programme was held in Una today where 15 senior citizens, including a centenarian, were honoured.

Those felicitated for their services to society included centenarian Rattan Chand and octogenarians Subhash Chand Saini, Bhajana Ram, Mohan Lal, Kuldeep Singh, Shakuntala Devi, Bihari Lal, Raj Kumar, Antarsem Singh, Daulat Ram, Baldev Krishan, Ansuya Kahol, Pratap Ram, Sita Ram and Kishan Chand.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said senior citizens were the foundation of our society and we can live our lives better by learning from their experiences. He directed various department officials to extend courtesy to the senior citizens when they approached the government offices for works. He also directed them, especially the Health Department officials, to attend to the senior citizens on a priority basis.
