Global exposure for young minds

Fifty government school students, who had gone on an international exposure trip to Cambodia and Singapore, returned home late on Monday evening. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had flagged off their trip on February 7, and Education Minister Rohit Thakur had accompanied the students on the trip.

Addressing the students at the end of the tour, the Education Minister urged them to submit their experiences on the tour in a detailed report. “This initiative will encourage students to reflect on their learning process and share their experiences,” said Thakur.

The minister further said that jotting down their experiences in the form of a report would help them understand the education systems of the countries they visited in a better way, and will improve their critical thinking and writing skills. “The report will also provide useful suggestions for future international educational trips,” the minister said.

During the trip, the students got the opportunity to observe the historical and cultural heritage of Cambodia. They visited important historical sites like Angkor Wat, Royal Palace and Angkor Thom. Under the cultural exchange agreement between India and Cambodia, India is playing an important role in the conservation of Angkor Wat temple.

In Singapore, the schoolchildren got an opportunity to witness and understand the remarkable progress the country has made in the field of education. The students visited Singapore Science Centre and Omni Theatre, where they learnt about modern science, innovation and technological development.

Apart from this, the students also visited Universal Studios, Time Capsule, Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay and Singapore Night Safari, which gave them an opportunity to know the cultural and technological aspects of Singapore.

The students thanked the state government for this wonderful experience. The students said the trip was a golden opportunity for them to learn and develop new perspectives.
