Minister of AYUSH, Youth Services & Sports and Law, Yadvinder Goma on Sunday performed the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of the link road set to be built at a cost of Rs 84 lakh to connect Lugat to Chilaan Di Kholi village in the Majheda gram panchayat .

He said it was the priority of the government to provide a strong road network to the people of the state.

During the last 53 years of the government’s tenure, many new roads were built in the state and many villages were also connected through these, he added.

At present there were 40,703 km of motorable roads and 3,578 gram panchayats had been connected with motorable or jeepable roads, he said, adding that in the Jaisinghpur Assembly constituency, better road facilities were being provided at the Panchayat level. Goma said the Dhar area was important in the Jaisinghpur Assembly constituency. Being a geographically difficult area, special attention was being paid to providing basic facilities to the area, he added.

He said Primary Health Centre building was being constructed at a cost of Rs 65 lakhs.

Rs 30 lakh were being spent for the construction of an additional building for the Government Senior Secondary School, Majhera, and a rain shelter was being constructed at Tinbad at a cost of Rs 7.5 lakh, he said, adding that the work of installing high-mast solar lights at Tinbad Chowk had also started.

Goma said a multipurpose indoor sports complex would be constructed in Jaisinghpur for the convenience of the players at an approximate cost of Rs 15 crore.

When land is available, a big ground would be constructed in the Dhar area, he said, adding that the expansion and improvement work of the road from Tinbad to Panchrukhi was among his priorities. He said the work would be done in two phases — from Tinbad to Bhuana in the first phase and from Bhuana to Panchrukhi in the second phase.

Goma said a 33-KV substation had also been approved for the improvement of electricity in the area, and the work for it would start soon.

Block Congress president Jaswant Dadhwal, local Panchayat head Ramesh Chand, Pratap Chand, Suresh Chand Dogra and officials of various departments were among those present at the event.
