During the event, relief material was also distributed to 75 disaster-affected families.
Addressing the gathering, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal expressed concern over the plight of families affected by recent natural disasters in Sirmaur district. He said several households in Haripur Khol had been displaced for over a month but had not received adequate assistance for rehabilitation or housing. According to him, repeated appeals for land and financial relief were yet to bring results.
Dr Bindal also pointed to disparities in the distribution of aid. He claimed that while some families who suffered little or no damage were allotted land, genuinely affected households that lost homes, farmland and livelihood continued to struggle without support.
The BJP leader further raised questions about the utilisation of central funds. He said the Centre had approved Rs 6,800 crore for disaster relief in Himachal Pradesh and sought clarity on how the amount had been spent. He also referred to allocations under various schemes for road construction, water supply and health services, noting that their impact was not visible on the ground.
Calling for transparency and accountability in disaster management, Dr Bindal urged the state government to prioritise the rehabilitation of affected families and ensure fair distribution of relief. He emphasised that immediate support was crucial for communities still facing hardship.
