The state government has fulfilled six out of the ten promises made to the people during the 2022 Assembly elections, stated Vinay Kumar, Deputy Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was addressing a gathering on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, after hoisting the national flag at the district-level function held at the Shaheed Captain Mridul Sharma Memorial Government Senior Secondary School (Boys).

Earlier, he inspected the ceremonial parade featuring contingents from the Himachal Pradesh Police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and students from various educational institutions.

Vinay Kumar remarked that Independence Day is a moment to remember and pay tribute to the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. He further highlighted that even after independence, brave soldiers from Himachal Pradesh have consistently displayed unparalleled courage in wars and military operations. Soldiers from the state have been honoured with four Param Vir Chakras, two Ashok Chakras, 10 Maha Vir Chakras and 24 Kirti Chakras for their valour.

He said that in 2023, Himachal faced a serious natural disaster and to overcome this, the state government distributed disaster relief package of over Rs 4,500 crore from its resources. He added that the government has also provided for a special relief and rehabilitation package for the disaster-affected , with the relief amount increased by 25 times.
