The government has imposed a complete ban on transfer of teaching staff deployed in government schools and colleges from June 5. The ban will remain effective till the completion of the academic year.

The government had decided that transfers would be done only once a year to ensure teachers are available at the schools for the entire academic session. There were complaints that as and when teachers were transferred mid-session, several schools remained without teachers for long period as some teachers would sometime not join the place of posting on various pretexts.

To ensure that students do not suffer, the government decided to have just one window for transfer in the academic session.
