Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will preside over the state-level National Voters’ Day ceremony on January 25 at the historic Gaiety Theatre, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced during a meeting to review preparations for the event.

The event will feature the felicitation of three newly registered young voters from Shimla (Urban), Shimla (Rural), and Kasumpti constituencies, who will receive their Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) from the Chief Guest. Additionally, three Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from Shimla district will be honored for exemplary work during the Special Summary Revision (SSR) 2025. Recognitions will also be given to one senior citizen voter, one person with disability (PwD) voter, and one transgender voter who participated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The celebrations will include a Himachali Nati folk dance, a voter awareness skit, and a performance by District Election Youth Icon and folk singer Pankaj Thakur. A photo exhibition showcasing the electoral process will also be organised to enhance public awareness.

Deputy Commissioner Kashyap emphasised the need for inter-departmental coordination to ensure the event’s success.
