A 70-year-old Covid-19 patient died at the Nerchowk medical college in Mandi while the state registered 13 Covid cases today, taking the tally to 1,044.

The highest number of nine cases were reported from Hamirpur — there are now 265 Covid cases in the district. Three cases were reported from Solan while one case was reported from Kangra. The state now has 326 active cases.

Deceased had diabetes

The man who succumbed to coronavirus was a native of Bir-Bagehra village in Hamirpur district.

The patient, who was also suffering from diabetes mellitus, was referred to the Nerchowk medical college from the Covid care centre at Bhota in Hamirpur on June 28. Jeevanand Chauhan, Senior Medical Superintendent of the college, said that the patient was suffering from a chronic illness, besides coronavirus. The body was cremated here in the presence of the bereaved family members, who arrived from Hamirpur.

Army man positive in Solan

Three persons, including an Army man, tested Covid-positive in Solan today, taking the tally of cases in the district to 114.

Two persons found infected are from Parwanoo; they are the primary contacts of a factory manager who had tested Covid-positive earlier. They were in home quarantine, said Medical Officer, Solan, Dr NK Gupta.

An Army man, who was in home quarantine at Paplota village in Arki, also tested positive for Covid. Arki SDM Vikas Shukla said that the Army man, who had come from a green zone, was shifted to the nearest Covid hospital. The number of active cases in Solan district now stands at 44.
