The event was held under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Delhi, Handicrafts Service Centre Kullu, Art & Craft Promotion Society Chamba, and Government College, Chamba.
Chief guest in the concluding ceremony Dr Madan Guleria Principal of Government College Chamba honoured all participants with certificates of appreciation. In his address, he expressed gratitude to the organisers for successfully organising the event.
Santosh Anand, Assistant Director (Handicrafts) of the Handicrafts Service Centre, Kullu, said students from the National Service Scheme (NSS), NCC, Rover Ranger, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, MBA programme, various college clubs and societies and other volunteers actively participated in the programme on the third day. During the event, artisans demonstrated their skills and showcased a variety of handicrafts, providing students with hands-on learning and insights into traditional art forms.
Participants were also made aware of various schemes and institutions under the Ministry of Textiles and received training in different handicraft techniques, he said.
On the concluding day, notable artisans including Ankit Verma, a metal craft artist; Parikshit Sharma, a Chamba miniature painting artist; Jyoti, a pine needle craft artist; Hinu Sharma, a Pahari embroidery artist; Vinod Kumar, a leather craft artist; and Anju Kumari, a sewing and weaving artist, demonstrated their crafts, taught students the finer techniques, and answered their questions. The programme was attended by faculty members and students in large numbers.
