Section 69 of the BNS criminalises sexual intercourse resulting from deceitful means, such as a false promise to marry, that does not amount to rape.

The victim alleged that Sachin contacted her on Instagram and WhatsApp in February claiming to be an excise inspector and gained her trust by assuring marriage. He also took around Rs 86,000 in cash and gifts worth Rs 25,000 over a period of six months from her.

The complainant further alleged that on October 24, Sachin met her at the Pine View Hotel in Dharamsala where he sexually abused her under the false promise of marriage.

Later, she discovered that he was already married and had a child. Following this, he allegedly blocked the complainant on all communication platforms.

The victim has submitted bank transaction details from her two bank accounts, along with photographs, chat logs and call records as supporting evidence to the police.

Investigation officer ASI Vijay Singh told a section of the media that the police were yet to arrest the accused.
