A division bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma passed this order on a PIL, which has been registered on the basis of a representation received from one Sanjeev Kumar of Una alleging illegal felling ‘khair’ trees and reduction of the forest cover in the Una district.
The court also granted time to the state government counsel to file reply. Keeping in view the nature of the allegations, the court also directed the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Una, to submit a report after getting in touch with aforesaid Sanjeev Kumar and visiting the said area. It further directed the District Administration, Una, to provide all necessary facilities to the said Officer.
The court listed the matter for further consideration on October 17.
