A health check-up camp for senior citizens was organised by the Health Department at Hira Nagar to mark International Day of Older People near here today.

On December 14, 1990, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day for Older People, as recorded in Resolution 45/106. This camp was an initiative by Chief Medical Officer Dr Praveen Chaudhary, who gave various health tips to the elderly.

The CMO said the day was celebrated by honouring senior citizens, and providing them information on the latest developments in the field of medicine.

A medical camp was organised for the elderly, he added, stating that senior citizens were the foundation of any society, and their contribution to the development of the country could not be undermined.

District Programme Officer Dr Rakesh Thakur and Dr Ajay Attri were among those present during the event.
