Hearts united, hands extended Nalti school leads relief drive for Seraj valley

Extending a helping hand to people in distress, the staff and students of Government Senior Secondary School, Nalti, near here, collected Rs 1 lakh and essential relief items for the flood-affected residents of Seraj constituency in Mandi district. The school’s management committee, along with the Nalti Vyapar Mandal, also contributed generously to the noble cause.

Dr Devender Banyal, the officiating principal of the school, said a coordinated campaign was launched to support those affected by floods and natural disasters in Seraj valley. Students played a key role, collecting relief material from nearby villages such as Kuswaad, Ropa, Bakarti, Haar, Palasan, Tikkar, Dudhana, Nara, Patiau, Brahladi and Nalti Bazaar. Villagers and parents of students donated wholeheartedly — contributing cash, food supplies, clothes and utensils.

Dr Banyal added that beyond material aid, nearly Rs 1 lakh in cash donations was raised to support the victims. He appreciated the efforts of the school’s NSS in-charges Rajendra Kumar and Neelam Kumari, as well as NSS volunteers Vishal, Aditya, Anshul, Niharika, Anshika, Palak and Vaishnavi, who took the lead in the collection drive. Additionally, NCC cadets, including Gauri, Ankita Banyal, Gauri Anand and others actively collected monetary contributions from Nalti Bazaar.

Anju Thakur, in-charge of the Eco Club, shared that students also conducted awareness campaigns through posters and newspaper clippings to sensitise people about the disaster and the need for support.

The president of the School Management Committee, Subhash Chand, and former principal Jai Gopal Sharma were also present during the initiative. Dr Banyal expressed heartfelt thanks to all students, parents, staff members, the Nalti Bazaar Vyapar Mandal and other donors for their overwhelming support and generosity.
