Heavy rainfall since Wednesday morning paralysed normal life in Una district. The district metrological department measured the total rainfall during the day at 132.6 millimetres.

While Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal had notified all schools, colleges, ITIs, Anganwari centres and other educational institutions in Amb and Gagret subdivisions to remain closed in view of damaged roads, the educational institutions in Una, Bangana and Haroli remained open and there were reports of water entering many institutions.

The worst affected was the District Industries Centre where rain water rose to about six inches inside the rooms. Swan river and its tributaries remained swollen and migrant workers living in thatched dwellings near the banks were seen taking shelter at safer places in makeshift polythene tents. About half a dozen migrant workers, trapped in a rivulet were rescued by the Fire department.

Water and seeped into low lying shops and business establishments. In some parts of Una city, while some residential areas also remained flooded. Normal vehicular traffic moved at a slow pace due to water logging and damaged roads.
