Heavy rainfall likely to continue till June 30; orange alert issued for today

As a result, heavy rainfall is very likely to continue across the state in the next few days.
The state’s Meteorological Department has issued orange weather warning for Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts for June 25, resulting in very heavy heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in these districts. The department has also issued a yellow weather warning for Shimla, Solan and Kullu districts for June 25, resulting in heavy rain in isolated parts of these districts. Yellow warning has also been issued for several districts of the state for June 26 and 27.
As per the state’s Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at many places of the state till June 30 with few spells of very heavy to heavy rain at isolated places from June 27 to 30. The minimum temperatures in the state are also likely to dip by 2°C to 4°C during the next three to four days while maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C till June 27 after which temperatures are very likely to surge by 3°C to 5°C till June 30.
Meanwhile, the state witnessed light to moderate rain at few places during past 24 hours. Nadaun recorded 63.5 mm of rain, followed by Kangra 60.5 mm, Poanta Sahib 49 mm, Hamirpur 46.5 mm, Mandi 44.2 mm, Guler 42.4 mm, Neri 39.5 mm, Bharari 33.4 mm Sujanpur Tira 20.8 mm, Nahan 17.2 mm, Dehra Gopipur 17 mm and Bilaspur 14.1 mm.
Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 41-46 kilometres per hour lashed Kukumseri and Bajaura.
No large change in minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded during past 24 hours as minimum temperatures were in the range of 13°C to 26°C while maximum temperatures were between the range of 21°C to 39°C during the last 24 hours.
Shimla, the state’s capital, recorded 23.2°C maximum temperature while prominent tourist destinations Dharamsala, Manali and Kasauli recorded 28°C, 29°C and 25.4°C, respectively.
Maximum temperature in Solan was 29°C, Mandi 30.8°C, Kangra 31.4°C, Chamba 32.2°C, Bilaspur 33.3°C, Una 35°C, Kalpa 27.3°C, Kufri 21.4°C, Nahan 27.5°C, Bhuntar 35.4°C, Sundernagar 32.5°C, Narkanda 21.5°C and Reckong Peo 31.8°C.
With 36.5°C maximum temperature, Hamirpur was the hottest place in the state while Kukumseri village in tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest as it recorded 13.2°C minimum temperature.
