Mandi, Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts in Himachal Pradesh are currently experiencing heavy snowfall at higher altitudes, while lower regions are seeing rainfall. Authorities have issued advisories urging the public and tourists to avoid high-altitude areas over the next two days due to ongoing snowstorms and forecasts for further snowfall.

Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, has already been covered in a thick layer of snow, creating hazardous travel conditions. Particularly in the areas around the Atal Tunnel, heavy snowfall is causing disruptions in traffic, with reduced visibility and slippery roads. The Lahaul and Spiti district police have issued a statement advising people to avoid unnecessary travel during the snowstorm, as the risk of accidents increases due to treacherous road conditions.

Lahaul and Spiti SP Mayank Chaudhary reassured the public that police are closely monitoring the situation and are available for assistance. Emergency contact numbers have been set up to ensure swift help in case of need. The ongoing snowfall is more severe than usual, and authorities are concerned that snow accumulation in regions such as Rohtang Pass and Keylong could lead to roadblocks and dangerous travel conditions.

Tourists are advised to refrain from trekking or traveling to high-altitude areas during this period. With the drop in temperature, there is also a risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Travellers are urged to dress warmly and prepare for extreme weather. Efforts are underway to clear snow from major routes to ensure safe passage for vehicles and authorities continue to monitor the situation. Residents and tourists are urged to stay updated on the weather and follow all advisories for safety.
