Two motorcycle-borne men attacked the owner of a dhaba near Pulgharat in Mandi district yesterday.

The victim, Pradeep Guleria, a native of Dayari village in Mandi, was packing meals for the accused when he noticed them stealing cash from his counter. When he attempted to stop them, one of the accused pulled out a gun and fired at him. Guleria, who sustained injuries, is under treatment at the Nerchowk medical college here.

According to the police, the accused made off with cash and an LED TV. Mandi SP Sakshi Verma said that the police had registered a case under Sections 109, 307 and 3(5) of the BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act. A special investigating team (SIT) headed by Sachin Hiremath, Additional SP, had been formed to investigate the case. “Initial investigations have revealed that one of the accused was wearing a white cap. The authorities are trying to find more

evidence and track them,” she added.

The SP assured the public that all necessary measures were being taken to solve the case swiftly. An investigation was underway, she added.
