Shimla, June 7

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur called on Nitin Gadkari Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways at New Delhi today and thanked him for sanctioning various projects under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) worth Rs 193 crore to the state. He said that roads are the lifeline of the hill state and these would go a long way in strengthening the connectivity in the state.

Thakur requested him for the speedy notification of 25 national highways approved in principle.

A discussion regarding four-laning of the Shimla-Matour and Mandi-Pathankot national highways was also held. He thanked Gadkari for the improvement in roads under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and requested for proper maintenance of existing alignments of the national highways where the work has been started by the executing agency.
