The Congress today refuted the BJP’s allegation that there was no coordination between the state government and the ruling party organisation. Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media Adviser to the Chief Minister, in a statement issued here, said that there was perfect coordination between the government and the Congress organisation and the party was preparing for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He said that the state government recognised and respected Congress workers and the Opposition had no right to interfer in their party affairs. He criticised the BJP for reading too much into the statements of some MLAs regarding some demands. “The Congress is a democratic party where everyone is free to give their suggestions. What is wrong in an MLA writing to the Chief Minister and giving suggestions or raising demands. The Opposition is trying to make a mountain out of the mole,” he added.

Chauhan was referring to BJP leaders’ remarks regarding simmering discontent among some MLAs following a letter written by Sujanpur MLA Rajinder Rana to the Chief Minister, urging him to fulfil the promises made to people before the last Assembly elections.

He said, “The government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is working tirelessly for the welfare of people, especially the poor and downtrodden.”

He said that the Congress government fulfilled the guarantee to restore the old pension scheme for 1.36 lakh employees even as the BJP had turned a blind eye to the legitimate rights of the employees. “The previous BJP government had left the state under Rs 75,000 crore debt and the Central Government did not extend any financial assistance to Himachal despite the natural disaster,” he added.
