Himachal JEE (Main) topper keen to be a computer engineer

At a time when a majority of the youth is engaged in social media, 17-year-old Amrit Kaushal ensured its minimal use to emerge state topper by securing 99.74 percentile in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) main examination. He achieved this feat in his very first attempt, securing 99.39 in physics, 98.99 in chemistry and 99.79 in mathematics, taking his total score to 99.74.
Born and brought up in Shimla, Kaushal did his schooling from St Edwards School in Shimla till class X and at present is a student of class XII in JCB Public Senior Secondary School, New Shimla. His parents Dr Ankur Kaushal and Dr Sonia Kaushal run a private clinic in Shimla. Amrit aspires to be a computer engineer.
Talking to The Tribune in a telephonic conversation, Amrit Kaushal said, “I am very happy about my result and I want to thank my parents and teachers for guiding and helping me at every step.” Though he visited social media sites frequently, Kaushal said he ensured that he spent limited time surfing these.
He said he has been preparing for the examination for the past two years. He opted Aspire centre in Shimla for coaching and followed his teachers’ advice. He used to revise whatever was taught in the class. “I would like to opt for computer science engineering in a good college,” he said.
“We are proud of his achievement. He has worked really hard for this and we are thankful to his teachers for encouraging and supporting him” said his parents.
Apart from Amrit, 18-year-old Vishudha Sood from Shimla also secured 99.43 score in the examination. She said she had been preparing for the past one year and was also taking coaching classes. She also aims to be a computer engineer.
