The two-day event was inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, with HPNLU Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Priti Saxena delivering the keynote address during the inaugural session.
In her address, Prof Saxena spoke on significant constitutional and contemporary themes, including “Right to Vote and the Role of the Election Commission under the Indian Constitution” and “Environmental Conservation in Himachal Pradesh,” highlighting their critical relevance in today’s socio-political context.
A 20-member student delegation represented HPNLU Shimla under the overall coordination of Dr Ved Prakash Sharma, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Coordinator of the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC). The event featured several committees — including the Lok Sabha, United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (HPLA) — offering participants a platform for intellectually enriching debates on pressing national and global problems.
Following two days of intense deliberations, HPNLU was declared the Second Best Delegation. Among the standout performers were Bhavya Bansal, awarded Best Parliamentarian (Lok Sabha), and Aastha Budhiraja, named Best Delegate (UNSC). Honourable Mentions were also awarded to Kartik Sharma, Purab Sharma, Sarthak Seth and Pranav Tiwari for their notable contributions across various committees.
Congratulating the delegation, Prof Saxena said, “This achievement stands as a testament to the University’s unwavering commitment to nurturing analytical acumen, leadership and civic consciousness among its students, in line with its vision of fostering excellence in legal education and research.”
