Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Publications, welcomed the chief guest.
The minister also lauded The Tribune for recognising and awarding the individuals who are shaping the destiny of Himachal Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering at the function, the minister listed out several feats the state has achieved recently, including surpassing the national average in human development index, achieving full literacy, etc. “Besides, the poverty rate has declined, life expectancy has gone up, and roads and healthcare have improved a lot, benefitting people even in the distant villages,” he said.
The minister, however, pointed out that the state couldn’t sit on its laurels and must continue to push the boundaries. “We must integrate digital literacy, foster economic opportunity and advance gender equality and wellness for all,” said the minister.
While exhorting the youth to follow in the footsteps of the award winners, Vikramaditya Singh urged the awardees and institutions to continue investing in the development of the state. “Let us recommit ourselves to building a future where merit and compassion go hand in hand, and where our hills echo not only with stories of achievement but of kindness and integrity as well,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amit Sharma, General Manager, The Tribune Publications, dwelled on the enduring relationship of the newspaper and Himachal. “The Tribune’s connection with Himachal is long and deep. It is this enduring relationship that has inspired The Tribune Himachal Achievers Award. It’s an effort to recognise individuals from Himachal who have made a mark in diverse fields,” said Sharma.
