Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today participated in a plantation drive organised by the BJP, Shimla Mandal, at Khalini on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

Thakur paid floral tributes to Mukherjee and said he devoted his entire life for the unity and integrity of the country. Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said Mukherjee’s high ideals would continue to inspire the countrymen.

Thakur and Bhardwaj also paid tributes to Rakesh Babli at a condolence meeting organised in his memory at Khalini. Thakur said the Babli’s contribution to strengthening the BJP organisation and development of the state would always be remembered.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
