The Shimla (Rural) unit of Himachal Pradesh Mahila Congress here today staged a protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Churah outside the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and demanded his immediate arrest.

They also demanded stern action against the MLA besides demanding full protection to the victim and her family. During the protest, District Shimla (Rural) Mahila Congress president Vanita Verma questioned the top leadership over its silence over the matter. She said the silence of the BJP’s top leadership in the matter had exposed the “anti-women” stance of the party.

She also alleged that the BJP was trying to suppress the case by pressuring and intimidating the victim to withdraw the FIR, which she had registered against the MLA.

Recently, a 20-year-old woman had filed an FIR against the MLA in which she alleged that the MLA used to send her obscene text messages. However, later, she in a live social media video stated that she was lured into filing the complaint against the MLA and had filed the FIR under mental stress.
