Apart from plying additional buses from Delhi and Chandigarh to various parts of the state ahead of Diwali, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) would run special buses from Shimla as well different parts of the state to help people reach their homes and celebrate the festival with their families. These special buses would run on October 29 and 30.

From Shimla, special buses would ply to Kullu, Mandi, Upper Shimla, Kangra, Hamirpur, Palampur, Dharamsala and other areas during these two days. On October 29 and 30, two special buses would run from Shimla to Reckong Peo, three from Shimla to Kangra, three from Shimla to Rampur, three Shimla to Rohru, three from Shimla to Kullu, two from Shimla to Mandi, two from Shimla to Sarkaghat, two from Shimla to Palampur, three from Shimla to Dharamsala, five from Shimla to Chandigarh and four buses from Shimla to Delhi.
