The state is likely to receive normal to above normal rainfall in August. Only some parts of the high hills in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba districts are likely to get below normal rain. In July, the state received 250.3 mm rain against the normal rainfall of 255.9 mm. Mandi district received the highest precipitation (574.7 mm) in July. Lahaul and Spiti received the lowest rain of 32.2 mm.

In terms of deviation from normal rainfall, Shimla district is at the top, receiving excess precipitation. Against the normal rainfall of 210.2 mm, the district received 357.9 mm, a deviation of 70 per cent. The two districts, which received excess rainfall, are Mandi and Kullu. While Mandi received 574.7 mm of rain against the normal of 386.5 mm, a deviation of 49 per cent, Kullu received 230.2 mm of rain against 184 mm normal. It recorded a deviation of 25 per cent.
