Himachal varsity Pro VC, students pledge organ donation at blood drive

The camp was organised by the university’s Dean Students’ Welfare office in collaboration with RCS
Hill Queens.
Prof Verma inaugurated the camp, which saw the collection of around 50 units of blood. Among the donors were 35 students, 15 non-teaching staff members and Prof Raj Kumar from the Department of Commerce, who donated blood for the 25th time.
The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) coordinator, Naresh, conducted an awareness session highlighting the significance of organ donation and urged attendees to take the pledge.
The blood bank team from KNH, led by Dr Kanchan, provided medical assistance for the camp. Two university students, Akshit and Gaurav, donated fresh blood for platelet transfusion, becoming life-savers for a critical dengue patient admitted to IGMC.
Dean Students’ Welfare Prof Mamta Mokta, RCS Hill Queens President Puja Goyal and Immediate Past President Maala Singh thanked all donors for their contribution to both blood and organ donation drives. Rtn Meena Sharma, Rtn Vipin Gupta, Rtn Anita Sharma, Gita Ram, Hemant Sashank and Bandana also assisted in organising the event.
