Horticulture Secretary inspects Mandi’s Dhadhwahan cluster

Horticulture Secretary C Pal Rasu today visited the Dhadhwahan Sehal Shiva Cluster in the Balh region of Mandi district, where he inspected the ongoing work and obtained detailed information about the project from the officials.

During the visit, officials informed Secretary Rasu that the project covers 17 hectares of land in Dhadhwahan, primarily dedicated to guava cultivation. Varieties like Lalit, Sweta and Hisar Safeda have been planted here, with around 1,667 plants starting to bear fruit. Two farmers have already begun selling their harvested fruits.

Secretary Rasu said the Shiva project will play a crucial role in strengthening the economy of farmers and orchardists in the lower regions of the state. He urged local farmers and orchardists to take full advantage of the project to enhance their livelihoods. Rasu also stressed the need for the younger generation to move away from traditional farming practices and embrace modern horticultural techniques, assuring that the government is providing all possible support to those joining the horticulture sector.

Deputy Director of Horticulture Dr Sanjay Gupta, Subject Matter Specialist Dr Rajesh Sharma, Industry Development Officer Dr Shivali Dhiman, Assistant Horticulture Development Officer Dina Nath Saini and Horticulture Development Officer Preetika, along with other officials, were also present.
