Eight families were rendered homeless after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey house in Kotkhai tehsil of Shimla district today. No loss of life has been reported in the incident.

According to reports, the house at Badvi village suddenly caught fire at around 12 pm. Locals tried to put out the blaze and also informed the fire department. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control with the assistance of the locals.

The district administration said the exact cause of the fire was being ascertained. Officials added that Rs 5,000 each have been provided as relief to the affected families.
