The Himachal Pradesh Police have decided to shift its Armed Police and Training Headquarters from Junga in Shimla to Police Training College (PTC) at Daroh in Kangra district, according to an official order issued by DGP Ashok Tewari.

In the notification issued in this regard, the DGP said that in compliance with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s announcement made from time to time of a strategic plan to decongest the state’s capital, it had been decided to shift the Police Training Headquarters to Police Training College at Daroh with immediate effect.

The HP Armed Police and Training Division oversees the initial training of new recruits and offers a range of specialised courses for serving personnel. New recruits participate in a comprehensive Recruit Training Course, including both classroom instruction and field training. Besides foundational training, the division emphasises advanced instruction in key areas such as cybercrime, women’s safety and the integration of technology into modern policing.

Last year, the Chief Minister had said several offices would be shifted from Shimla to other parts of the state to decongest the capital city.
