Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that Himachal was the first state in the country to complete the computerisation of cooperatives societies.

Agnihotri, while chairing a meeting of the Cooperative Department here, said that in the first phase, 870 societies had been computerised. “This has been done with the objective of improving transparency and eliminating the risk of irregularities,” he added.

The key priorities and strategies to strengthen cooperative institutions in the state were also discussed in the meeting. He emphasised the commitment of the government towards modernising the cooperative societies.

Agnihotri directed the officials concerned to improve the infrastructure of the cooperative institutions, recognising their vital role in the state’s economic growth. He highlighted the proactive steps taken by the Cooperative Department to support the societies and positioning them as key contributors to economic stability.
