HP team bags top spot in national SDRF competition

The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Relief Force (HPSDRF) secured the first position in the recently held national-level inter-SDRF competition organised by the NDRF at Ghaziabad.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, HPSDRF SP Arjit Sen Thakur said the state team, comprising of 18 members from Shimla, Mandi and Kangra companies, stood first during the North Zone competition and then went on to win the national competition as well, beating seven other teams from Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Nagaland, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Daman and Diu.

During the nationals, team improved upon its qualifying time in the North zone competition, beating the Uttarakhand team, which secured the second spot and Andhra Pradesh,l which stood third, he said.

He further said that the award ceremony, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was to be held today in Delhi. But, it was cancelled late on Wednesday following the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Winning this prestigious trophy despite being one of the youngest SDRFs in the country has encouraged us to keep performing better and improve our capabilities further through better training and ensure enhanced equipment,” said the SP.
