He was speaking at the unveiling of the placement brochure for the MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (2024-2026) batch. Commending the department’s efforts since its establishment in 2021, Prof Singh lauded its success in fostering a stong culture of research in emerging fields.

The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the department for keeping its curriculum aligned with evolving industry trends and for introducing two new specialised programmes — MSc (Data Science) and MSc (AI) — beginning in 2025, which he said would further expand academic opportunities for students.

Expressing confidence in the students’ potential, he said, “I am certain that our students will continue to bring recognition to the university through their academic excellence, placements and research contributions.”

Department Chairman Prof Manu Sood said, “Since its inception in 2021, the department has continuously evolved to meet the demands of the rapidly changing technological landscape. The introduction of two specialised postgraduate programmes further strengthens our foundation and widens career prospects for our students.”

He emphasised that the department’s goal is to produce not only competent professionals but also socially responsible individuals capable of using technology for the greater good.

He added that six student clubs have been functioning over the past two years, offering opportunities to enchance multi-dimensional skills and critical thinking. He also noted the department’s consistent placement record. In the 2023-2025 session, six students secured positions in reputed companies such as Code Quotient, VDoIT Technologies and A2IT Solutions.
